What is the Environment Partnership?
The Environment Partnership brings together public, private, and voluntary sector organisations that are working across the Bradford District to tackle environmental issues. The idea is that if service providers work together with the community real improvements can be made across the District.

The Environment Partnership is part of the Local Strategic Partnership which is made up of various services, organisations and communities tasked with addressing the key issues affecting the quality of life of people in the District including the economy, health and housing.

What is the role of the Partnership?
The Partnership’s role is to identify the key environmental issues in the district and develop strategies and action plans on how best to tackle them. It identifies opportunities for joint working and provides a forum where information can be shared.

The Partnership also has a role in allocating and monitoring Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) grants to projects which aim to improve the environmental wellbeing in the most deprived areas of the District.

Who is involved?
A number of organisations are involved in the Environment Partnership, these include:

  • Bradford Chamber of Commerce
  • Bradford Council
  • Bradford Environment Forum
  • Bradford Vision
  • British Waterways
  • Business in the Community
  • Environment Agency
  • University of Bradford
  • Yorkshire Water

How the Partnership works
The Environment Partnership meets every three months and is chaired by Richard Wixey, Bradford Council’s Strategic Director for Environment and Neighbourhoods. Rob Dark is Deputy Chair of the Partnership representing Bradford Environment Forum.

The Environment Partnership has the following sub-groups to deal with specific pieces of work on behalf of the Partnership:

  • Liveability Task Group
  • Resource Efficiency Task Group
  • Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) Monitoring Sub-Group

The groups have been developing the environment strategy and other work plans for the Partnership and they report back to each Partnership meeting.
