Dangerous Dogs
It is an offence to allow any dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place.
The dog does not have to bite someone - you can still be prosecuted and fined up to £5,000 if it is being aggressive.
If the dog makes contact and breaks the skin it can be classed as an aggravated offence.
If you see a dangerous dog, telephone the Police immediately.
The dog Warden Service does not deal with dogs that are dangerous. If the dog has bitten, or attempted to bite someone, contact the police. If the dog is causing a nuisance or appears to be a stray contact the dog warden.
