View Planning Application Details, Decision Notices and associated Documents and Submit Comments on an Application

PublicAccess for Planning is an online service that allows you to view details of Planning Applications received by the Authority. You can:

• View details of current and historic applications
• Monitor the progress of a current application
• Download associated scanned documents for free (for applications submitted after 1 January 1997)
• Download copies of Decision Notices for free (for applications submitted after 1 January 1997)
• Make comments on an application
• Search a list of applications validated or decided each week
• View details of current appeals and any decisions made
• View property details by reference to a map

Limitations of Service

This service is being developed and some features are incomplete at the present time:

• Full details of planning applications received after 1 November 1993 are currently available and limited details for applications submitted between 1 April 1974 and 31 October 1993. Please contact the Planning Service on 01274 434605 or complete the online request form to arrange to view details of these applications.
• Associated documents and plans are available for applications received after 1 January 1997 and certain applications received in 1996. Please contact the Planning Service on 01274 434605 or complete the online request form to arrange to view details of these applications.
• Documents and plans submitted with an application can normally be viewed within 24 hours of an application being validated. If none are displayed, you may wish to try the following day.. Alternatively you can view the application and associated documents at planning reception at your local planning office during normal office hours.
• The “View Map” search facility only reveals planning applications received after 1 June 2003. If you wish to search for an application submitted prior to this date please use the “Application Search” facility.
• Planning constraint information is currently not available to view via PublicAccess. However, some online constraint information is now available on the main planning website. Please click on the “Related Links” below for more information. The Council is committed to making the remaining information available as soon as possible. In the meantime please contact your local planning office for details of any possible constraints.

Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the data, the planning information within the site is at present incomplete and must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal ‘Land Charge Search’. No responsibility will be taken for any errors or omissions in the planning history information obtained from “Public Access”.

The information contained within Public Access does not constitute in any way a formal notification of a planning decision, and as such any actions undertaken as a result of information displayed on the site are undertaken entirely at the viewer’s own risk.

Conditions of Use

Plans, drawing and material submitted to the Council are protected by the Copyright Acts (Section 47, 1988 Act). You may only use material which is downloaded and/or printed for consultation purposes to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans. Further copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner.

Viewing PublicAccess in your web browser

• PublicAccess is best viewed with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, other web browsers may not support all of its functionality.
• If you are using Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher and the application does not appear to work as expected, please check your browser options.
• PublicAccess uses pop-up windows to provide help and results. Windows XP service pack 2 has added a pop-up blocker tool to Internet Explorer. You will need to adjust your default pop-up settings to use the full functionality of PublicAccess (see Tools - Internet Options - Privacy).
• Please note that files sizes can be large and may take a while to download.
