Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report – Draft House Extensions and Alterations Supplementary Planning Document.

Bradford Council is currently preparing a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for House Extensions and Alterations. The SPD will replace the existing House Extensions Policy and Dormer Windows Policy Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) with a single document. The document will provide practical design guidance that supplements several policies which are contained with the current Replacement Unitary Development Plan, however the document will also form part of the emerging Local Development Framework.

Sustainability Appraisals have to be carried out on the majority of plans, policies and documents in the planning system to ensure that their implementation will support the sustainable development of the District.

The Scoping Report sets out the level of detail and scope of environmental information to be included in the full Sustainability Appraisal which will accompany the draft SPD when it published for consultation.

Comments are welcome on all aspects of the Scoping Report, but could include whether there is anything else which should be included in the Sustainability Report, for example, are there any other sustainability issues which are relevant to the SPD; or are there any other plans, policies and programmes which should be taken into account in the preparation of the SPD.
