Call for Sites and Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment

Bradford Council is carrying out a "Call for Sites" exercise and Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) as part of the work which must be undertaken in preparing its Local Development Framework.

Call for Sites

Any agent/landowner/developer/land user who may have interests in the district and who wishes to promote particular sites for development in the forthcoming LDF should submit their proposals to the Allocations Team. The Council are especially looking for sites which may be suitable for housing, employment, retail or community uses.

All submitted sites will be considered and analysed as part of the LDF and housing sites will be assessed through the SHLAA process.

If you wish to submit a site then please download and complete the ‘call for sites pro-forma’ in as much detail as possible. You can request for copies to be sent out by contacting the Allocations Team on 01274 432253. Multiple sites can be submitted for consideration but please use a separate form for each site or building. A plan, preferably at 1:1250 or 1:2500 scale, must be submitted which clearly shows the boundaries of the site.

The ‘call for sites pro-forma’ should be completed and returned together with a plan defining the precise boundaries of the site by 5pm, Monday 27th October 2008:

Putting a site forward does not guarantee that the Council will allocate it, or support its development in the future. All sites will need to be judged against relevant planning policies and other considerations. All sites submitted as part of the call for sites exercise will be published in due course and cannot be treated confidentially.

Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment: Draft Methodology

The SHLAA provides the main mechanism for identifying potential housing sites across the district and assessing their developability and deliverability. The SHLAA will form a key component of the LDF evidence base and will be used to inform the allocation of sites in the Council’s LDF.

The Council is seeking views on the methodology, which the SHLAA should follow, and has published a paper setting out the issues, options and some suggested approaches.

Comments are invited by 5pm, Monday the 20th October 2008.

Any persons wishing to make comments can do so in writing to:
