Education in Bradford
When it comes to education, Bradford is leading the way with many exciting initiatives.
The district is entering a new era as £40 billion is being poured into rebuilding or revamping all of the district’s state schools as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme.
The ten-year project will help transform pupils’ attainment through providing first-class, modern and inspirational buildings – which will also help encourage high quality teaching. |

Other successes include the launch of Children’s Centres which offer pre-school and family support, Extended Schools which provide before and after-school learning and activities, and the highly-praised Schools Linking Project which brings children together from different parts of the district so they can share experiences and learn about each other’s cultures and lives.
Also, the Children’s University was set up in 2004 to help encourage eight to 13-year-olds to enjoy and be inspired by science, maths, engineering and technology.
Part funded by Bradford Council, the scheme has now been chosen by the Victoria Space centre in Melbourne, Australia, to be involved with a mission to send bees into space to pollinate Mars in 2030.

And last year the district celebrated its record results at Key Stage Three and GCSE as more pupils performed better than ever in exams.
Some of the district’s schools are also proud to be among the best in the country for their achievements, including Feversham College which was identified among the top performing 400 schools nationally in December 2005.
