Who Does What In Emergencies in West Yorkshire
The Council's Emergencies Handbook accommodates the following plans produced by the Emergency Management Team.
Generic Plan
- Major Peacetime Disaster Scheme also known as MPDS
The aim of this plan is to activate services and resources rather than responding to a specific incident; therefore it is very flexible and gives the council the opportunity to either activate in part for smaller incidents or whole if the incident becomes declared as a major disaster.
Specific Plans
These plans are prepared for known risks/hazards, historical evidence suggesting the need for a plan and for resources that require special mobilisation and time to setup.
- Control Of Major Accident Hazards – COMAH Plan
- Emergency Helpline Plan
- Fatal/Serious Injury Incident Plan
- Landfill Gas Emergency Procedures
- Mortuary Plan
- Rabies Contingency Plan

There are other arrangement and procedures in place some produced locally and others at a West Yorkshire level.
