Aims and Vision

Aims

The DAP work together to:

  • make sure domestic abuse issues are tackled across the District
  • get politicians, managers, staff and local people active on this issue
  • implement a District-wide strategy that reduces and prevents domestic abuse
  • recommend what services are needed, and make sure action is taken
  • work alongside other District partnerships and strategies

Members of the DAP will seek to influence key strategies, policies and delivery plans within their own and other agencies to ensure that domestic abuse becomes appropriately reflected. It is acknowledged that work on this agenda will always be subject to resources and conflicting priorities, but this should not interfere with ensuring that it is considered in all relevant areas of work and that service needs and gaps should continue to be identified and considered.

Vision

The Bradford District Domestic Abuse Partnership will challenge and prevent domestic abuse. We will do this by ensuring the effective and co-ordinated participation of the private, statutory and voluntary sectors in preventative work and in the provision of appropriate services: services for the protection and support of women and children experiencing domestic abuse and services which challenge abusers and work with them to change their behaviour.

The detail of how the targets are to be met is contained in action plans which are available as a separate document. The action plans cover a one-year period and will be reviewed and revised annually to take account of changing needs and priorities.
