Safety at Sports Grounds
Public awareness to safety at sports grounds has been enhanced over the years giving rise to a public expectation that safety standards now prevail.
Building Control provides an inspection service for all sports grounds where the public are likely to gather for a sports event. This is done in conjunction with the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services.
All sports ground owners and event organisers are advised to notify Building Control of their grounds, the sport, the ground capacity and the average attendance. We will then inspect and advise.
Grounds which have been designated by order require a safety certificate as do stands which have a capacity of 500 or more.
