Over 50s Activities

Just because you're into your fifties (or sixties) doesn't stop you getting into Aerobics, Swimming, Badminton, or even Fitness Centres.

Maintaining your physical fitness becomes more important the older you are. Regular suitable exercise can really benefit our bodies.

Why exercise?

  • You'll look and feel great.
  • It's a great stress beater.
  • It can keep you strong, flexible and full of energy.
  • It will help you control your weight and keep you in good shape
  • It helps keep you mobile and independent, particularly later in life
  • It can help you relax and sleep well.
  • It helps to reduce blood pressure, and the risk of coronary heart disease and osteoporosis (brittle bones) in later life.
  • It's a good way to meet friends and develop new interests.
  • The more active you are, the more you will be able to do.
    And it's fun!

Bradford's Leisure Centres and Swimming Pools offer a range of exercise and sports activities to suit everyone. This leaflet contains details of activities and sessions which are specifically for the Over 50s. For details of adults sessions or for bookings for leisure centre activities contact the individual centres listed.

If you haven't exercised for a while, have an existing medical condition for which you're being treated or any other concerns about your health, have a chat with your G.P. before taking part in any physical activity.

The information on this website is correct at the time of publishing. However, sessions are constantly being added and times and days of existing sessions do change. We recommend that you contact the Centres or Swimming Pools before attending.

Passport to Leisure

If you are a resident of the Bradford Metropolitan District aged 60 or over, or receiving benefit, you may be eligible for a Passport to Leisure Card.
