Music at Myrtle

Saturday – Music at Myrtle

The 14th free Music at Myrtle event proved to be the best yet, attracting a 15,000 strong crowd who enjoyed the fantastic live acts and the glorious summer evening!

The evening’s entertainment began at 5pm with an energetic live set from local band Get Stones who wowed the crowds with Rolling Stones tracks and other classics.

Another Bradford based band, NU2, continued to rock the crowds with a brilliant set of U2’s finest hits. Lead singer, Frank Farkas gave a stunning performance, perhaps U2’s Bono should have cause for concern! “We could have played all night!” said band members who eventually, reluctantly left the stage!

The crowd were then treated to a polished performance from 60’s Scottish rock band Marmalade. The set included top ten hits such as ‘Ob La Di Ob La Da’, ‘Falling apart at the seams’, ‘Reflections of my life’ and ‘Cousin Norman’.

Following the Scottish rockers were T–Rex a celebration of Marc and Mickey. This stylish commemorative act originally formed by band members Paul Fenton and Mickey Finn, had the crowd reaching for their platforms and flares as they stomped through hit after hit!

Rounding up the evening’s outstanding entertainment was headline band Roy Wood’s Army who didn’t fail to disappoint. Accompanied by a stunning 7 piece brass section, the legend amazed onlookers with hits like ‘Flowers in the rain’, ‘Fire Brigade’, ‘Blackberry Way’, ‘See my baby jive’, and many, many more.

The night concluded with a breathtaking fireworks display, which now forms part of the tradition of the event.
