Volunteers wanted for Senior Sports Academy

Volunteers are wanted to help run a Senior Sports Academy organised by Bradford Council and Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure.

The joint venture provides classes for people with disabilities aged between 15 and 25, and takes place every Wednesday at Manningham Sports Centre between 5.30pm and 7pm.

The free academy has been organised as part of the Council's b active campaign and will provide year-long sports opportunities, training and competition across the Bradford district.

Volunteers are now needed to help with the running of the courses, which include basketball, football, indoor athletics, swimming, short tennis and tag rugby.

Bradford Council's Assistant Director for Leisure Services, Phil Barker, said: "Providing sporting opportunities for as many people as possible across the district, regardless of their age and ability, is central to our b active campaign.

"The Senior Sports Academy is a great way of getting more people involved and I hope volunteers will come forward to help run the courses."

Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure provides people throughout the district with sporting opportunities of both a recreational and competitive nature, with some members achieving international success.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should contact Rob Cooper on 01274 437093.
