Spring into action this autumn!

Residents across the Bradford district are being asked to do their bit to tackle climate change this autumn.

The latest phase of Bradford Council's 18-month climate change awareness programme kicks off this month with a new advertising campaign and a leaflet drop to all households.

The advertising will feature on local buses and poster sites around the district. It shows a daffodil emerging from autumn leaves and carries the slogan 'Spring into Action this Autumn'.

As with the rest of the climate change campaign, the advertising highlights the changes to the seasons and the weather due to global warming.

And as part of the campaign, which is funded by Defra, all households will be receiving information about climate change in the next few days. The leaflet provides the basics about climate change and what we can all do to help tackle it. Residents can also get a more detailed and free guide to climate change by calling 01274 433582.

Coun Anne Hawkesworth, the Executive Member for Environment and Culture, said: "We have been chosen by Defra to raise awareness of climate change in the Bradford district and to encourage people to think about what they can do to make a difference.

"The guide contains useful information about cutting down on energy use and doing our bit to reduce our impact on the environment."

The guide is made out of recycled paper and Bradford Council encourages residents to recycle it once they have made use of it.

Further events are planned for the autumn.
