Residents will warm to insulation offer
Bradford residents are to benefit from a district-wide scheme that will provide them with cost effective home insulation to reduce their heating bills.
Bradford Council is working on an area-based initiative that will help everyone gain loft and cavity wall insulation at a competitive price or if they are over 60 they can get it for free.
The Leader of Bradford Council, Coun Kris Hopkins, said: "We want to make sure that all of our senior citizens have access to free loft and cavity wall insulation where it is technically possible. This will help directly with reducing their fuel bills and enable them to have a warmer and subsequently healthier home.
"Bradford Council's Domestic Sustainability Project is making sure that the District will be as sustainable as possible. The first scheme has resulted in the co-ordinated and proactive approach to sustainable energy in the domestic sector.
"Homes account for 27% of all carbon emissions in the UK, so the initiative will reduce our carbon footprint and consequently help us look after our residents' health and safety."
When the scheme gets underway the residents will also be referred, if they wish, to other services, for example the fire service and the benefits service.
When the scheme partners talk to householders, the residents will also be referred, if they wish, to other services such as the fire service and the benefits service.
Simon Tao, Bradford Council's Project Co-ordinator, said: "We will co-ordinate the scheme once gets it underway to make sure residents receive the best possible service and advice in the most efficient way possible."
