Bradford could benefit from up to £6 million to help people learn new skills.
The funding for West Yorkshire was announced at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford today (October 24).
The money, which will come from Yorkshire Forward, the Learning and Skills Council and Europe, will be invested in projects across the district to help raise the skills of the workforce.
Funding is available to get more people learning, provide business training and to adopt more innovative and creative forms of learning, particularly for young people.
The funding should benefit 1,500 people in the district develop skills, 530 individuals gain NVQs and 180 people into jobs.
Coun Dale Smith, Executive Member for Education, said: "We are keen to hear from organisations which have new ideas to help people learn and improve their employment opportunities.
"Raising the skills of the district's residents not only benefits them, but also businesses in the area and adds to the overall economic regeneration of the district."
A local appraisal panel made up of representatives from the Bradford Learning Partnership, the Economic Partnership, Bradford Council, the Learning and Skills Council West Yorkshire and Yorkshire Forward will assess projects in mid-December.
