A report by consultants into the future of Bradford Council's sport and recreation facilities will be heard on Friday 10 October.
The Regeneration and Economy Improvement Committee will discuss the report produced by consultants Strategic Leisure Ltd with a range of stakeholders.
The meeting is the start of a consultation process and the committee will hear presentations from Strategic Leisure Ltd, Bradford Council officers, Minister for Sport, Gerry Sutcliffe, Sport England and representatives of the Community Sport network.
Chairman of the Regeneration and Economy Improvement Committee, Coun Val Slater, said: "This is an important issue for the committee and the key stakeholders to discuss.
"It is imperative to the future health and well-being of our residents that they are provided with enough facilities that offer a wide-range of activities and are of a standard that is fitting for the 21st Century.
"Residents are invited to the meeting to listen to the presentations and we are keen to hear their views and take their opinions on board."
Bradford Council's Strategic Director for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Jane Glaister, said: "Strategic Leisure carried out a review of the Council's sport and recreation facilities, which has been supported by Sport England and follows national guidelines.
"It is a strategic review based on supply and demand looking at the Bradford district's population. Our facilities have to reflect what is needed locally and take into account what can practically be done.
"Some of our buildings are ageing and we need to build facilities that will take the district forward in terms of long-term provision - some will need replacing, while others will need refurbishing."
Bradford Council aims to invest money from the public purse to improve the standard of sports facilities available to residents and increase the number of people of all ages and abilities who use them.
It is working closely with other bodies in the public, private and voluntary sectors to provide a wide-range of sporting facilities by building new facilities and refurbishing existing sites.
The meeting takes place in the Banqueting Hall at City Hall at 10.30am.
