Private Sector Housing
Private Sector Housing Service
The aim of the Private Sector Housing Service is to raise standards of health and quality of life by improving the quality, affordability and suitability of housing for people across the district. Our Policy has been drafted in line with the legislative requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Housing Assistance) (England and Wales) Order 2002 and provides a vehicle through which the Council and its partners can facilitate housing renewal within the District.
The overall aim of our policy is to develop a variety of mechanisms to facilitate and deliver advice, support and assistance to give the people of the Bradford District the opportunity to obtain decent housing, with priority being given to the most vulnerable.
Through a combination of advice and enforcement we deal with enquiries relating to harassment and illegal eviction, general disrepair and Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO's).
Any action we take follows our Enforcement Policy (
104kb).
We have recently launched Best BD Homes, a new accreditation scheme with great incentives for landlords and real benefits for tenants.
We produce a variety of publications for landlords and tenants, including guidance relating to housing standards and Let's Talk a newsletter for Landlords.
