Housing for Health

The scheme is open to anyone living within the Bradford District. To be eligible for the scheme there must be someone living in the property with one or more of the following chronic health conditions affecting their daily living, eligible conditions include:

coronary heart disease (including angina, heart attack, heart failure),
cerebrovascular accident (strokes),
peripheral vascular disease (a circulatory condition),
diabetes (long term, poorly managed and treated with medication),
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (including chronic bronchitis and emphysema) and
children with life limiting and chronic diseases (can include chronic asthma).

The types of work carried out can include:

  • Works to improve ventilation
  • Works to improve heating
  • Works to address safety
  • Works to remove dampness (excludes cellar)
  • Security

To be eligible for this assistance the householder must have a gross annual income of below £20,000 and either have a property in the Council Tax lowest band range, be in receipt of means tested benefits or Council Tax benefit.

If the Property is owner-occupied you may be eligible for financial assistance towards housing works, health advice and signposting to other agencies. If you are a Tenant of a property, you will be offered health advice and signposting only.
