Help with minor repairs for owner-occupiers who are over 60
Who can use the small repairs service?
Anyone who:
- Is aged over 60, and
- Is on benefit (pensioner Credit, Council Tax Benefit etc), and
- Is resident in Bradford
Small Repairs Service
Anchor Staying Put is a not-for-profit home improvement agency run by Anchor Trust.
The service can help with jobs around the house which you may find difficult. For example:
- Minor plumbing repairs
- Repairs to gates and fences
- Unblocking drains / sinks
- Minor carpentry repairs / sash window repairs
- Fitting grab rails and stair rails
- Re-glazing (ground floor windows only)
- Doors / windows, repair and adjustment
- Draught proofing
- Fitting or moving cupboards
- Small plaster repairs
- Repairing gutters (single storey only)
- Fitting locks, security chains, spy holes etc
- Minor electrical works – generally restricted to wiring plugs, changing bulbs and similar tasks
The list gives an idea of some of the jobs that can be done, minor jobs like re-fixing loose carpeting, floorboards and other things to prevent accidents can also be done.
How much will it cost?
It will cost a flat fee of £10 per visit
Helping you stay in your own home
Anchor Staying Put Bradford may also be able to help with adaptations and major repairs to help you remain living in your home in greater independence and comfort
