InCommunities took over the district's Council houses on 24 February 2003 , after a tenants' vote - 62% voted for transfer to the new Trust, from a secret ballot turnout of 66%.
The Group aims to provide affordable high quality homes and services in desirable neighbourhoods, resulting in thriving communities contributing positively to the future of the district.
Homes are owned and managed by six new, independent, not-for-profit, local housing organisations, making up the Group.
The six local Trusts are:
- Aire-Wharfe Community Housing Trust
- Bradford West City Community Housing Trust
- South Bradford Community Housing Trust
- East Bradford Community Housing Trust
- North Bradford Community Housing Trust
- Shipley Community Housing Trust
Tenants have a majority on the six Trust boards, giving local accountability and decision making. Access to housing will be easier for all. Housing and maintenance staff have transferred to the Trust, providing continuity for tenants.
