This is a two day course.
A workshop for managers, supervisors, team leaders & anyone wanting to develop their leadership skills
Performance coaching is an effective & robust way of improving performance which frees managers & leaders from the need to know everything. It leaves responsibility for development where it belongs – with the individual. It’s exciting & it works!
Mentoring is a natural way to pass on experience & wisdom to the less experienced or junior. Acting as a mentor helps others reach their potential & develops the mentor, too. Very satisfying.
This workshop will combine presentation, demonstration, & one to one & group conversations to develop the practice of participants.
It will help you to:
• Understand the team, service & organisational benefits of coaching.
• Clarify the boundaries between coaching, counselling, mentoring, instruction, buddying & training.
• Build your coaching skills.
• Use the GROW model (goals, reality, options & will) to conduct effective coaching conversations with individuals & groups.
• Understand the role of the mentor & the mentoring process.
• Construct your own coach/mentor C.V.
• Produce an action plan to take your development forward.
After the workshop, you will receive an ebriefing with references & weblinks.
The course leader, Martin Truelove, played a strategic role in the development of coaching & mentoring across the Council. He has trained over 200 managers & leaders as coaches, & has established a number of successful mentoring schemes
