Child Development – Middle Childhood
Although theorists give less emphasis to this age group, middle childhood sees the development of more independence, exploration and understanding.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore theories and explanations of development in middle childhood
- Overview of psychosocial, biological and cognitive processes in this period
- Recognising that genetics, maturation and the social environment are interrelated in influencing developmental outcomes
- Recognising how key vulnerabilities and adversities can threaten healthy development
- Aimed at: Bradford Services to Children and Young People - Social Workers, Community Resource Workers, Family Centre Workers, Residential Workers and Foster Carers
