Diet Nutrition and Care Of People With Dementia
Run by National Alzheimer's Society Dietician Gwen Coleman
This training will address the challenges people with dementia face at mealtimes, that impact on their ability to eat and drink well. It will review practical strategies that can help to improve nutritional intake, for example focusing on areas such as swallowing difficulties, catering and environment.
It will also provide the opportunity to consider the link between diet, nutrition, cognitive and physical health. The standards specific to mealtimes from the 'National minimum standards of care for older people in care homes', will be linked in to parts of the training as relevant.
