Health, Well-being and Care

Mental Health

If you have mental health problems we may be able to help you. Read this page to find out what we can offer, then get in touch with us.

We can also provide an interpreter if needed.

Does it apply to me?

If you or a member of your family or a friend have any kind of mental health problem such as ...

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • schizophrenia
  • manic depression
  • or are experiencing mental distress of any kind ...

... and it is significantly affecting your ability to get on with your life

… we may be able to help you.

If you get in touch with us, we will talk together about what you need and decide what should happen next.
This will be totally confidential.

We offer a range of services across the district. We also have information about services offered by voluntary organisations such as Horton Housing and the Blenheim Project. And, if you need support from somewhere else, such as a GP, or the Housing Department, or some other organisation, we will help you get in touch with them.

What kind of help is there?

You may need some help at home or perhaps you want help with budgeting and managing your money - our Community Support Team can offer practical and emotional support.

May be you want to be able to get out somewhere where you can meet other people, have a meal, develop your interests and gain confidence - our Day Centres provide this sort of help. Some specialise in getting you back to work while others offer drop-in support. We also have special groups for women and for Asian men.

You may need 24-hour care so you have time to adjust and learn home-making skills before you move into a group home or your own home - we can arrange a rehabilitation programme for you.

We want to help you with your problems so that you can go on living in the community and can stay as independent as you can. But if you - and we - feel that it would be better for you to move into some sort of sheltered housing or into residential care, we can help you arrange that too.

Everyone needs different things, so the services offered to each individual will be different. Together we will try to agree on the best way to provide the help you need.
