Living with HIV

If you are HIV positive or think you might be, we may be able to help you. Read this page to find out what help we can offer, then get in touch with us.

We can provide an interpreter if needed.

Does it apply to me?

If you ...

  • are infected with HIV, or think you might be
  • live with, care for, or are concerned about someone who may be HIV positive
  • need advice, support or counselling about HIV or AIDS

… there are a number of ways you can get help locally

If you get in touch with the people listed below, you can discuss what is available for you.

Any personal information you give will be treated in the strictest confidence. If you receive any advice or services, the only people who will have this information are those who need it in order to help you.

What kind of help is there?

  • Advice, information and counselling, about HIV testing or any other aspects of HIV.
  • An assessment, with you, of what you need and what help you can get.
  • Help with personal care and household tasks so you can stay at home when you are ill.
  • Equipment and adaptations to your home.
  • Grants towards holidays or other forms of recreation, if you are seriously disabled.
  • Free installation of a telephone if you are at risk and isolated.
  • Help with your care to give you and your carer a short break.
  • Assistance with care for children when parents with HIV are ill or in hospital (children are not taken into care just because a parent has HIV).
  • Support groups and befriending.
