Support for people living with HIV

"Our Project"

Who are we?

‘Our’ is a Bradford based community service working with people living with HIV. The focus is to offer a quality service to all people living with HIV or AIDS in the Bradford Metropolitan District.

We aim to:

  • Provide support for anyone directly infected or affected with HIV or AIDS
  • Ensure that people living with HIV or AIDS receive services that are fast, flexible and fair.
  • Inform and educate people in the area, raising awareness around HIV related issues.
  • Ensure that services are acceptable, appropriate and accessible to people living with HIV.

What we can offer:

  • Support for people living with or concerned by HIV or AIDS
  • Information and advice
  • Sign-posting to relevant and appropriate services
  • Resources on many aspects of HIV/AIDS and Sexual Health
  • Training for Community Groups and professionals on HIV/AIDS
  • Free complementary therapy sessions (for HIV +ve people only)
  • Free Counselling
  • Advocacy
  • Social and emotional support
  • Help with finances

Resources

A number of printed resources are available, free of charge to service users and professionals.

Examples of areas covered by resources include:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Super Infection of HIV
  • Safer sex resources

We are also able to provide free condoms and lubricant.

How to access ‘Our’

  • Clients can self refer
  • Clients can be referred by any professional or agency
  • Referral can be made by telephoning the ‘Our’ office on 01274 740548 or by email our@mesmac.co.uk

Who can access ‘Our’?

  • Anyone infected with/affected by HIV or AIDS who is resident in the Bradford Metropolitan District
  • Any professionals who require information or advice on HIV or AIDS related issues

OUR Counselling

Free confidential counselling for people living with HIV in the Bradford area.

OUR counsellors understand the issues faced by people living with HIV. They also understand that you and your circumstances are unique.

OUR counsellors will never judge you or tell you what to do.

Counselling can help you make sense of how you’re feeling. It can also help you to work out solutions to situations you might have to face because of your HIV status.
