Out of School Childcare
The Out of School Childcare team support the creation of new out of school childcare places across the Bradford district.
If you are interested in developing an out of school childcare service and would like information and support, get in touch with one of our Senior Childcare Development Officers.
Funding may be available to support developments that meet specific criteria.
What is Out Of School Childcare?
Out of school childcare is childcare that is available outside the normal school day for children of compulsory school age or outside the hours when children of three and four are at school or in a nursery place.
The key aim is to provide suitable childcare to allow parents to work or study. The childcare services are sustained through parental fees, and parents may be eligible for Childcare tax Credit to support the costs.
There are several types of out of school childcare services:
- before school care – before the start of the school day
- after school care – from the end of the school day for up to three hours; but can be longer
- integrated childcare for three and four year olds – childcare integrated with early education
This childcare is either term time for at least four or five days a week, all day during some or all of the school holidays and/or weekends and occasional school closure days
Interested in setting up out of school childcare?
Support is available for anyone interested in exploring the option of developing childcare.
Senior Childcare Development Officers within the Out of School Childcare team will provide information, advice and guidance on all aspects of setting up an out of school childcare provision, including identifying demand and developing a sustainable project. In areas where there are insufficient childcare places additional support and start up funding can be made available.
