Parish and Town Councils
The law provides for local identifiable communities to establish a Parish or Town Council to look after their interests.
Parish and Town Councils have powers in connection with allotments; cemeteries and crematoria; footpaths and bridleways (maintenance and signposting); swimming baths and transportation matters (off-street parking and footway lighting).
Also, under the Local Government Act 1972 they have a right to be consulted about planning applications affecting land in their areas
