What is a Detailed Scrutiny?
Improvement Committees can undertake investigations or “detailed scrutinies” as they are called.
Detailed Scrutinies:
- Are undertaken by Improvement Committees with the support of officers of the Council.
- Can look at any issue covered by the remit of any particular Improvement Committee
- Have a “Terms of Reference” agreed by the Committee at the start of the scrutiny that details exactly what the scrutiny will look at and how it will be carried out
- Collect evidence from relevant people and organisations (“interested parties”) so that the Members of the Committee can produce a public report that covers their findings, conclusions and recommendations.
- Receive this evidence in a variety of ways e.g.
- From written submitted evidence
- Surveys
- Public Meetings
