Numbers of staff who benefit or suffer detriment as a result of performance assessment procedures
There are several appraisal systems in operation across the whole council, most of which do not relate directly to "benefit or detriment", but which identify future individual training needs. There are no direct links in place between the Department’s Performance Appraisal and Development Scheme (PADS) and remuneration.
Within Social Services, the outputs from the social work progression process for social workers show that there is a higher proportion of BME staff gaining higher grading and related salary increases as a result than represented in the total workforce.
During the year 2005/06, 21 SWs progressed to level 2 and 21 to level 3. The ethnic mix shows that there was a higher proportion of BME staff progressing than in the local population and in the SSD workforce. The overall proportion is the same as the previous year at about a third of those progressing.
