- According to the ABI 2003, there are 14,428 business units within the Bradford District. The majority of these (35%) are in the Distribution Hotels and Restaurants sector.
- Since 1998, there has been a slight decline in the number of business units in Bradford, compared to a regional and national growth. The number of Manufacturing businesses has decreased more significantly in Bradford than within the region or the UK as a whole.
- In 2003 there were 1,215 new VAT business registrations, a 12.5% increase in start-ups since 2002, compared to 8% nationally
