Private Hire Driver’s Licences
A licence is required before any person can drive a licensed private hire vehicle.
Applicants for a Private Hire driver’s licence must be at least 21 years old and have held a full British Driving licence for at least three years. They must undertake a medical examination by their G.P., complete a Criminal Record Bureau check, and undertake a local knowledge test.
Every licensed driver, whilst driving their licensed vehicle must wear their Private Hire driver's badge on their outer clothing so as to be visible to the public.
