Upcoming Events - May 2012
A planning application for the project has now been submitted. Pennine Resource Recovery (PRR), Bradford Council and Calderdale Council are hosting further events to provide an update on recent project activity. Events will provide residents, interested parties and stakeholders with a summary of the feedback received from consultation events held in February and March of this year.
Upcoming events will inform residents of:
- the benefits of the project;
- the planning application submitted to Bradford Council (as the Local Planning Authority);
- how to view planning application documents;
- how to provide feedback on the application; and
- a new recycling centre on Parry Lane.
We hope you can attend.

Waste Treatment Project Communications Campaign 2010
In November 2010 the Councils held public information drop-in sessions. The purpose of these events was to communicate information on proposals from the remaining two bidders for development of a new facility to deal with Bradford and Calderdale’s waste. Other Waste Treatment Project Communications
A range of public consultation exercises have been organised by the Council for two purposes; to develop the Municipal Waste Management Strategy, and to prepare for the Waste Treatment Project.
Speak-Out Survey – November 2006
In the development of the Waste PFI Project, district residents were given a 4-page survey which asked questions about different waste treatment facilities and recycling/composting solutions. Participants were also asked to give written comments that described preferences and suggestions. Surveys were distributed as follows:
- Speak-out Panel
Speak Out Survey Results
- EcoFair
- Council website
- Neighbourhood Forums
- Reception areas of public buildings
Have your Say Survey – July 2005
This survey took place in July 2005 whilst preparing the Municipal Waste Management Strategy. District residents were asked three questions which were focused around waste treatment facilities and their acceptability to the public. The survey showed clear support for new technologies as an alternative to landfill.
Waste Awareness Raising Campaign – 2001 to 2006
In 2001 the Council began a sustained 5-year Waste Awareness Raising campaign. This was funded from a variety of sources, including Bradford Council, DEFRA, and WRAP.
