What's in your bin?

Every week we collect bins that are overflowing with rubbish – often so full the lids won’t close. Did you know that over half the contents of the average rubbish bin can be recycled?
You could significantly reduce the rubbish in your bin if you follow the three Rs:
Reduce
- Look out for products with less packaging or that are refillable
- Buy loose rather than pre-packed fruit and vegetables
- Reduce paper use by printing or copying on both sides
- Use mail and fax preference services to cut down on unwanted junk mail
Reuse
- Donate unwanted clothes and household goods to charity shops and good causes
- Pass on magazines and books onto friends to read
- Reuse envelopes and write on both sides of paper
- Reuse carrier bags for shopping
And if you can’t reduce or reuse it, recycle it!
