Trees in Conservation Areas
Trees in Conservation Areas
What regulations apply to trees in Conservation Areas?
If you wish to carry out works to trees of more than 7.5cm diameter (measured 1.5m from the ground), which are situated within a Conservation Area, then 6 weeks notice in writing must be given to the Local Planning Authority. No works should be carried out during this 6 week period unless consent is granted by the Local Planning Authority. Unsuitable works can carry a fine of up to £20,000.
Trees covered by a Planning Condition
What should I do if I think my tree is covered by a planning condition?
If you know that your tree is covered by a planning condition and you wish to carry out works to it then notification must be made to the Local Planning Authority. If you are unsure as to whether a planning condition exists in relation to your tree, please contact the Planning Office for your area who will be able to help you.
