Pre-Application Advice
We encourage applicants and agents to consult our policies or where applicable obtain pre application advice before submitting a formal planning application, to help improve the quality of development proposals and to speed up the process of determining planning applications.
Householder Developments
If you are thinking of undertaking an alteration or extension to your property there are two relevant guidance documents that set out the Council’s policy on house extensions and dormer windows.
The planning department does not offer a written Pre Application service for alterations, extensions and improvements to existing dwellings.

The Council has produced a range of supplementary planning documents which provide theme based and site specific advice relating to development proposals.
We also offer free written Pre-Application Advice for certain types of enquiries.
