Pre-Application Advice
If you telephone or visit a planning reception point to ask whether planning permission is likely to be granted for a particular development proposal, the Customers Services Team will be unable to provide you with an immediate answer. This is because such enquiries require an investigation of the site history and/or site characteristics before a properly considered response can be given. The Council does however operate a Pre-Application Advice Service for certain types of enquiries. This service relates to:-
- New Dwellings.
- Commercial Developments including changes of use, extensions and alterations. (Excluding shopfronts & security measures)
- Alterations and extensions to all Listed Buildings
The planning department does not offer a Pre Application service for alterations, extensions and improvements to existing dwellings. We have a Development Team who deal with requests for Pre Application advice for Major development proposals. This service relates to:-
- 10 houses or more.
- Commercial developments of a thousand square metres or more. (0.5 hectare for new housing sites)
- Mineral and Waste schemes
