City Centre Neighbourhood Development Framework

What’s happening?

Will Alsop’s Masterplan for the City Centre set down a strong vision for the city. Since it was published in 2003 Bradford Council and Bradford Centre Regeneration (the city’s urban regeneration company) have commissioned consultants to work on detailed proposals for each of the four neighbourhoods highlighted in the Masterplan – The Market, The Channel, The Bowl and The Valley.

Bradford Council is inviting comments on each of the consultants studies. These are known as Neighbourhood Development Frameworks (NDF’s). The NDF’s will be major inputs into a new Action Plan that the Council is preparing for the city centre.

What are the NDF’s

The NDF’s are a way of translating the visionary concept of the Masterplan into a detailed implementation plan and programme of action. Each study contains specific practical proposals which, when taken together, will provide a clear picture of how the city centre should look in 2020.

Who has prepared the NDF’s?

  • The ‘Market’ and the ‘Channel’ have been prepared by Arup
  • The ‘Bowl’ has been prepared by Alsop
  • The ‘Valley’ has been prepared by Urbed
