Evidence Base - Local Infrastructure Plan

The Local Infrastructure Plan will set out the current position of infrastructure provision in the District, along with an identification of the key agencies/partners, their investment programmes and infrastructure commitments, along with any key issues for the Core Strategy.

Infrastructure can be broken down into three categories:

  1. Physical infrastructure includes all modes of transport; utilities; telecommunications; information technology; water provision and drainage
  2. Social and community infrastructure includes facilities for education, healthcare, community uses, play and leisure
  3. Green Infrastructure includes protected landscapes, open spaces, nature reserves, woodlands, washlands and wetlands, trails and cycleways.

Strategic Information is currently being collected on all of the above to support the Core Strategy.

Once the current capacity of the Districts infrastructure is established the information will provide a baseline to be developed further. Consideration will be given to any gaps in infrastructure provision, what infrastructure will be required to support any future development proposals, how it will be funded and who will deliver that infrastructure provision.

The Local Infrastructure Plan was completed in October 2011.
