Community Accord has rapidly grown to be the largest community mediation service in the UK – do you want to be part of winning team that makes a real difference to people’s lives?
Being a Community Accord volunteer mediator has a number of benefits
You will make a real difference to people’s lives
A recent independent survey shows 75% of our users would recommend Community Accord to others, and 60% of people feel more confident about dealing with future disputes, - you are helping people deal with both immediate and future issues. Here a couple of quotes from people we have worked with:
“A lifeline”
“Mediators are professional and know what they are doing and without them I would not feel confident”
“Clearly had good training”
You will improve your communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
Through your training and your direct work with people in dispute, you will dramatically improve your communication, negotiation and problem solving skills. This helps you in your work with parties in dispute, and it will also transform the way you relate to work colleagues, friends and family members. Here a couple of quotes from current volunteer mediators:
“Meeting new people from diverse cultures and learning from their different techniques is an added advantage”
“I’ve gained a wider perspective on conflict resolution and a deeper insight into how issues can be clouded by intense emotion”
“Helping people resolve their own conflict is such a great thing”
You will get personalised coaching
We take your personal development incredibly serious, which is why the ratio between experienced coach and new mediators will never be more than 1:5. We are committed to give you intensive support and to structure our personalised coaching around your individual needs.
Accreditation
Community Accord offers accreditation through the National Open College Network (NOCN) for those mediators who wish to get a certificate at the end of their one-year commitment.
