Saltaire Conservation Area Assessment

The Saltaire Conservation Area Assessment contains a detailed analysis of the character of the conservation area and describes its special character and interest. The document and the revised conservation area boundary were approved by Shipley Area Committee on 30th March 2004.

Saltaire Conservation Area Appraisal

The Saltaire Conservation Area Appraisal was undertaken in July 2006. The Appraisal is a means of updating the original assessment and is carried out every five years. The appraisal considers authenticity, changes that have taken place, opportunities and threats to the Conservation Area. It also maps the key characteristics of the area and contains Management Proposals. Any changes that affect the designation of the Conservation Area will be reported to the relevant committee.

Saltaire World Heritage Site

Saltaire was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2001. It was recognised for its international influence on town planning and as an outstanding example of the progress made by industrial entrepreneurs like Titus Salt in improving social conditions in the nineteenth century. Full details about Saltaire’s World Heritage Site status and the area’s management can be found via the Saltaire World Heritage Site webpages.
