August 2012
Bradford's new Manchester Road bridge for walkers and cyclists – part of the Living Street – is now open, both ahead of programme and on budget.
Everyone involved in the project would like to thank local residents and anyone affected by road closures for their patience and understanding.
There will be an 'Official' opening event on the 1st September 2012 followed by an action packed afternoon of activities to celebrate the new bridge installation that the local community is welcome to attend.
From 1pm-4pm there will be a whole host of activities to celebrate the event including a Sustrans Fresh Air Miles Ride, treasure hunt and ride, Dr Bike cycle maintenance sessions, cycle training, bouncy castle, art attack bike, prizes and goody bags, stalls, food and much more.

Works on the bridge are continuing at a fast pace, however, Manchester Road will be closed early Saturday 30 June until early Monday 2 July.

Works are progressing well, on time and on budget.
All piling works are now complete and works have started on the concrete columns and earthworks in Marshfield's Park.
On January 16th work will start on the main central column where the pile cap, steel reinforcement and concrete column will be constructed. This will take approximately 3 weeks and because it is located in the central reserve of Manchester Road, will require the closure of the Guided Bus Way.
People wanting to use the bus services will be able to use the bus stops along Manchester Road footway.
December 2011
Periodic lane closures will be on-going throughout December as work continues. However, the contractor will be stopping over the Christmas period between 22 December 2011 and 3 January 2012 so all lanes will be open
November 2011
Mid November
The Piling works carried out last weekend during the closure of Manchester Road went very well. Thanks to everyone involved. The provisional closure planned for the weekend of the 19th and 20th November is now not needed.
There will be no more full road closures on Manchester Road until March 2012 when the new bridge is craned into place.
However, lane closures will still be on-going throughout the project.
12 and 13 November
Work being carried out on the central reserve means that part of Manchester Road needs to be closed again. The road will be closed between St Stephen's Road junction and Ripley Street junction. Please follow the diversions unless access to businesses and homes is required.
Please do not be deterred from coming into the city centre to shop or attend the Remembrance Day Service - just allow extra time and follow the diversions.
Maintenance work is also being carried out on Wakefield Road from Dudley Hill roundabout which means the previous diversion route has slightly changed - please follow the signs.
Early November
Demolition and site clearing will continue.
