Bradford Urban Garden

Bradford Urban Garden (or BUG) is a temporary, landscaped space on the site of the proposed Broadway retail development. The 11,000 sq ft park contains grassed areas, wild flower meadows and pathways across the city.

Local arts development agency Fabric, assisted by an advisory group, is responsible for animating the “meanwhile use” of the space through art, events and music.

Installations on the site include the Belvedere by Lucy Bergman and Noah Rose, a mural by Rick Shipley forming a backdrop to the events area, and artwork on other hoardings by a number of local Bradford schools.

As well as providing informal recreational space, successful events held on the site in 2011 have included a May Day celebration and Bradford Pride.
