Swimming
Did you know that swimming is the country’s number one sporting activity?
Why swim?
- Swimming is not only a lifesaving skill but a life skill
- The ability to swim opens doors to safe participation in other activities, like diving, sailing, sub aqua, angling etc, in addition to the water safety aspect
- Swimming can improve your health, aid weight loss, build stamina, strength and mobility and the risk of injury is far less than other sport or activities due to the support of the water
- Swimming is one of the few physical or sporting activities that can be enjoyed by all members of the family together
- Swimming helps develop a child’s co-ordination, social skills and has been reported to improve sleeping and eating
- Swimming is fun!
Swimming is fantastic exercise for all ages and there is more to it than just clocking up the lengths. It’s a great way for families to liven up the school holidays. Have a go on the exciting Jungle Adventure Slide at Richard Dunn Sports Centre or the 40 metre waterslide at The Leisure Centre, Keighley. Check with centre for further details.
So if you’re a serious swimmer or you just want to get back into the swing of things, why not visit your local swimming pool!
