Looking for a new job?
Bradford Libraries Information Services offer free access to a wide range of printed and electronic sources providing information on companies, markets and skills to help you find work.
I would like to know more about the sector I hope to work in.
- Market research reports are available in printed and electronic formats and include – Datamonitor and Mintel. Further printed sources are available on the shelves.
I would like to see some job advertisements
- Trade journals The library subscribes to some trade journals which carry job advertisements. Ask at the enquiry desk for more information.
- Newspapers We have all the UK broadsheets. Most advertise specific types of jobs on specific days of the week. You can also consult all of the local newspapers e.g. Yorkshire Post, Yorkshire Evening Post, Telegraph and Argus, Keighley News. There is a list of newspapers held at the Enquiry Desk.
- Other sources include Yorkshire Jobs Today, and the Bradford Council Vacancies Bulletin (available online)
I am not sure which career path to take!
- Career guides The library has guides to careers in many sectors, as well as the popular “Careers 2009” book. These are located on the shelves at 331.702

I need help writing my CV.
- We have many books about CV’s and how to write them. There are also books designed to help you write letters and job applications. Check out 331.128 on our catalogue. There is also a section on CV’s on one of our subscription websites COBRA

I would like to work abroad.
- Jobs and careers abroad is a directory providing a guide to the steps you need to take searching for a job abroad. It also has a lot of information relating to specific careers plus details of regulations in specific countries. It lists international companies in each country and many specific contacts relating to employment and welfare.
I have an interview. How can I find out about the company?
The following electronic database contains company information:
- One Source (Reference USA) The number 1 source of information on international (incl. UK) businesses and executives for researchers, students and job seekers and businesses. Common uses are finding businesses based on employee size, sales volume, type of business and location. Conduct research about industries and companies. Find executives, corporate families and company descriptions and conduct powerful market research using up to date figures and industry reports. Use this yourself in the library or direct from your home/office using your library ticket.
