Veterans' Day

Sunday 27th June from 10am to 4:00pm
Centenary Square, Bradford

We will be honouring the hard work of our service men and women during Armed Forces Week, between June 21-27.

On Monday, June 21, we will be holding a flag-raising ceremony in Centenary Square at 11am. On Thursday, June 24, we will be holding our annual veterans’ lunch, hosted by the Lord Mayor.

And on Friday, June 25, the Yorkshire Regiment will hold a freedom parade through the city centre at 4pm to show off their new colours.

The week-long celebration will finish on a high note with Veterans’ Day, on Sunday, June 27.

The day starts with a moving drumhead service on the steps of City Hall at 11.30am, followed by an afternoon of music and dance at our open-air tea dance in Centenary Square.

Whether you are into jive, jitterbug, lindy hopping or just like a bopping good time to the swing music of wartime Britain, there’s plenty on offer.

Award-winning dance company, the Jiving Lindy Hoppers, will host the event, accompanied by music from the Swing Shifters.

Throughout the day, you can talk to men and women who served in the armed forces at the Veterans Village marquee and find out more about the armed services, past and present. The army field kitchen will be serving hot meals.

And for the more athletic among you, there will also be a climbing wall to have a go at.
