Playing for gold

Playing for Gold is a unique and fully inclusive, play based project for children and young people, and the communities they live in. It has been awarded the 'inspired' mark for London 2012 Games. Playing for Gold will use play as a narrative to connect children and young people with the values and principles of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.

The programme facilitates learning through creative activities, fun games, educational videos and cultural arts; this includes fire play, elemental play, sports and team building activities. Children are encouraged to show enterprise and initiative in order to create and participate in their own local Games, which will be their interpretation of the London 2012 Games. The programme provides opportunities to develop personal skills, increase knowledge, be physically active and be inspired to achieve all they can through participation in the programme.
