Mortgage Rescue Overview
The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) predicted that 75,000 homeowners would lose their homes due to repossession by the end of 2009. Based on their recent figures there were 12800 repossession in the first quarter of 2009 and 10400 in the last quarter of 2008. They now expect to revise the figure of 75,000 downwards.
Due to the economic downturn, unemployment, changes in circumstances and an inability to re-mortgage the number of households in mortgage arrears continues to rise.
