Housing Service

The aim of the Housing Service is to raise standards of health and quality of life by improving the quality, affordability and suitability of housing for people across the district. Our Policy has been drafted in line with the legislative requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Housing Assistance) (England and Wales) Order 2002 and provides a vehicle through which the Council and its partners can facilitate housing renewal and regeneration within the District.

The overall aim of our policy is to develop a variety of mechanisms to facilitate and deliver advice, support and assistance to give the people of the Bradford District the opportunity to obtain decent housing, with priority being given to the most vulnerable.

Through a combination of advice and enforcement we deal with enquiries relating to defects in private rented housing in both single family dwellings and Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO's).

Any action we take follows our Enforcement Policy, which can be found at the bottom of this page.

We produce a variety of publications for landlords and tenants, including guidance relating to housing standards and Let's Talk a newsletter for Landlords.
