IT - File Management

This course is designed for current PC users who would like to learn how to use Windows Explorer to create folders and organise your filing system.

As part of the course you will learn how to save your work to your personal drive or to the shared drive on the network and how to copy or move files to a memory stick.

The course briefly comprises:

  • Overview of the screen displays
  • Organising files using Windows Explorer
  • Understanding the council networking structure
  • Moving files from drive C: to the network
  • Creating folders for your work
  • Copying files to and from shared/personal network drive and memory stick
  • Renaming files
  • Deleting files
  • Opening Word documents from different locations
  • Saving Word documents into different locations
  • Saving an e-mail into a folder created in explorer
  • Working with e-mail file attachments
  • Searching for files

Available to staff in: Adult & Community Services and Services to Children & Young People.
