This one day course is a great training opportunity for experienced as well as new social workers, to focus on a key aspect of working together with the Police.
This one day course is aimed at registered and qualified Social Workers in Bradford Council, Children, Young People and Families Services.
Jointly delivered with Detective Sergeant Claire Smith from the West Yorkshire Police Child and Public Protection Unit.
Aim:
To help you respond confidently and efficiently in the early stages of a suspected child protection enquiry that may lead onto Section 47 Investigations.
Learning Objectives:
- Increase knowledge and understanding of the legal context and processes impacting from a suspected child protection investigation.
- Increase knowledge and understanding of the protocol 'Threshold criteria agreement - on enquires by Police and Social Services - CP investigations'
- Planning and preparing for initial contact and initial questioning (particularly of children and young people)
- Develop reliable and procedurally sound communication with children that meets the 'Evidencing Best Practice' guidelines
- Apply effective methods of recording events and retaining potential evidence in both civil and criminal proceedings
- Increase ability to give clear evidence which is acceptable to a court (either civil or criminal)
